The Director General, Voice of Nigeria (VON), Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, has expressed the readiness of the Radio station to collaborate with Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) with a view to promoting the institution to the outside world.
Ndace gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy call on the Founder of the university, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo on Friday evening in Kano.
He said the station was ready to join hands with the management of the institution so as to showcase the new university not only in Nigeria but to the outside world.
\”I\’m ready to be in the forefront of selling the university, not just in Nigeria but to other countries of the world. There are good stories happening in Nigeria and one of them is this university.
\”We have people doing well for our country like Prof. Gwarzo, so we should be able to amplify it. From today the story of MAAUN will be one of the priorities of VON,\” Ndace said.
The VON DG who applauded Prof. Gwarzo for establishing the university and equipped with the state of the art facilities, said VON would support the university in publicizing its activities.
He also commended the management and other staff of the institution for their commitment to promoting research and development for academic excellence in the university.
In his remark, Prof. Gwarzo stressed the importance of capacity building for broadcast journalists.
He pledged the institution’s support in offering training to staff of the station with a view to enhancing their capacity and meeting modern broadcasting challenges.
While welcoming the partnership with the Radio station, Prof Gwarzo said the collaboration would serve as an opportunity to provide a better platform for disseminating positive information about Nigeria and Africa.
“We can be organizing training for Voice of Nigeria, we don’t need you to even give us money. We can do it for free.
“Without training you cannot be excellent. I can also link you with some International institutions in the world where some can even give you scholarships to do certificates, maybe on globalization, TV stations Analysis, Modern Radio Stations.”
According to him, the partnership would go a long way in checking misinformation and promoting Nigeria’s image on the global stage.
