President MAAUN Group of Universities donates N50m to IHERIS Varsity

The President MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has donated N50 million to IHERIS University Togo as part of his contribution towards promoting learning, research and development in the university.

He announced the donation during theĀ 10th Convocation and Conferment of Doctoral Degrees of the university held on Saturday, 16th December, 2023 in Lome, the capital city of Togo.

Prof. Gwarzo said he donated the money on behalf of the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji (Dr) Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir who was honored by the university with an honorary degree, Doctor of Philosophy (honoris causa) in Social Development Relations.

The Traditional Title Holder of Sarkin Dawaki Babba Gaya, Dr. Aminu Wada Fanda received the honorary degree on behalf of the Emir of Gaya during the occasion.

“On behalf of the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Ibrahim who receives an honorary causa, I donate N50 million to the university,” Prof Gwarzo said.

Prof. Gwarzo who is also the Pro-chancellor of IHERIS university, expressed happiness over the selection of the emir as one of the awardees in view of his past records as an academician, and above all for being an honest and credible personality.

He hailed the traditional ruler for the honor done to him and congratulated the students for graduating from the university which he described as one of the credible universities in Francophone countries.

He urged the graduands to continue to work hard in order to realize their dream in life.

“Most of you are less than 30 years, so, the future belongs to you and when you are honest and work hard nothing will be impossible,” he said.

He further urged the graduands to always be honest and make the best use of the knowledge they acquiredso as to contribute their quota towards the development of the society.

In his speech, the Registrar/ Chairman Advisory Council, Dr. Adamu Muhammad Wakil said the university has achieved a lot especially in the area of its core mandate which include research, training, mentorship and leadership.

He commended the management and entire staff of the university for their commitment towards ensuring that the foresight, vision and vigor of the Founder of the university have been executed.

The Registrar assured that the university would leave no stone unturned to ensure that students receive the best education in the institution.

Five distinguished personalities were honored with honorary degrees while no fewer than 500 students graduated during the convocation ceremony.

The University had also matriculated over 700 newly admitted students for the 2023/2024 academic session.
