Northwest Varsity names 800-bed capacity hostel after Prof. Gwarzo

The Founder and Chairman Governing Council of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has unveiled an 800-bed Capacity Hostel Complex, named after him at the Northwest University, Sokoto.

The new hostel comprising 2 blocks of 168 rooms, was named after Prof. Gwarzo in recognition of his philanthropic services and outstanding contribution to the development of education in Nigeria and beyond.

Unveiling the edifice, Prof. Gwarzo lauded the University Management for naming the building after him, while expressing satisfaction with the standard and the capacity of the hostel.

He further commended the founder of the university, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamako, for his visionary leadership skills and commitment towards uplifting the standard of education in Sokoto State in particular and Nigeria at large.

Earlier, Prof. Gwarzo also commissioned a badminton court in the university for students\’ recreational activities.

Prof. Gwarzo who doubles as the President of Association of African Private Universities (AAPU) was conducted round some places in the University including the students hostel, senate building and other important places.

During the event, Prof. Gwarzo was accompanied by President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, Vice President Administration, MAAUN Maradi in Niger Republic, Dr. Shuaibu Tanko, Vice Chancellor, Franco-British International University, Kaduna, Prof. Abdullahi Muhammad Sabo and Secretary-General (AAPU), Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna.
