Prof. Gwarzo Hails Founder, Central European University at 95

The President and Founder of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has felicitated the Founder of Central European University (CEU), George Soros on his 95th birthday.

Prof. Gwarzo sent his felicitations in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Kano, Nigeria on Tuesday.

According to Prof Gwarzo, George Soros, who is also a philanthropist, deserves to be celebrated on this auspicious occasion in view of his commitment to the advancement of higher education in Europe.

“It is indisputable fact that George Soros established CEU in Vienna, Austria with a presence in Budapest, Hungary with the aim of fostering an open society that would promote critical thinking and intellectual exchange.

“No doubt, the university has achieved the Founder’s mission and vision by attracting students and faculty across the globe, fostering a global perspective and promoting international cooperation.

“So, on behalf of myself and the Management of MAAUN Group of Universities, I wish to extend our heartfelt congratulations to George Soros for reaching this important milestone,” Prof. Gwarzo said.

While describing George Soros as a committed and patriotic personality, Prof. Gwarzo prayed for his long life in good health to enable him to uplift the university to an enviable position.

Established in 1991, CEU which has a main campus in Vienna, Austria and a presence in Budapest, Hungary, is a research focused university offering a wide spectrum of interdisciplinary undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees.
